Shunga

Sale price€39,90

Thanks to the most refined Japanese woodcut thecniques the Shunga portray the erotic activity of a couple between pleasure and pain, and the beauty of their bodies. The technique used for these tables is called ukiyo-e -particularly popular in the Edo period (17th-19th century)- and almost all its exponents tried their hand at Shunga at some point in their career. This massive 586-page volumes features various Shunga works by artists such as Hokusai, Utamaro, Kuniyoshi, Kiyonaga and Eisen. The magic touch of Kazuya Takaoka (art director of the previous Hokusai Manga) knows how to highlight the sublime graphics of this corpus. Kazuya Takaoka, born in Kyoto in 1945, has supervised as an art director various design and advertising projects. He won the Gourmand Best Design Award with Wagashi.
