ブルーマンデー

The English term Blue Monday (ブルーマンデー) indicates a particular day in the month of January, usually the third Monday of the month, considered to be the most depressing day of the year for the nations of the northern hemisphere and therefore nicknamed "sad Monday".

It all begins when Cliff Arnall, a psychologist at Cardiff University, uses an equation that allows him to identify the third Monday of January as the saddest day of the year. The mathematical calculation takes into account the fact that it is raining and cold, that the Christmas holidays are now behind us, the good resolutions for the new year have often already been disregarded and the amount of work has become enormous again. Putting these and other variables together, the fateful date of extreme sadness emerged.
