Mamoru, the new macrobonsai from TENOHA

はじめまして、Mamoru-ちゃん!
protector [from lat. late protector-oris]

TENOHA has a new friend in its garden: the macrobonsai Mamoru-chan , called Mimmo by friends and customers. From the Japanese meaning of protector (守る), Mamoru is a macrobonsai olive tree, which arrived at the beginning of April 2022, already well-liked both by those who usually stop for a coffee and by those who pass by to go to the shop.

Most Japanese gardens are equipped with macrobonsai, and TENOHA Garden is no different. A place of peace and relaxation, despite being in the heart of Milan, it is a space in which the majestic simplicity of nature is reproduced. Immersed in the greenery, among bamboo, maple, paulownia and fir plants, you can travel with your mind, floating all the way to Japan, in a green corner of the Japanese capital.

But why an olive tree?
The olive tree is a typically Mediterranean species which, following cultivation, has been able to extend its diffusion area over the centuries. Much appreciated as a macrobonsai for its aesthetic characteristics, but not only: the slow but vigorous growth, the ability to germinate from the stump at any age, the spring flowering and the autumn fruits.

Macrobonsai olive trees are obtained with techniques similar to those of traditional bonsai: cutting of almost all the branches and foliage shaved horizontally to form stages or alternatively pom-poms.

Did you know that olive trees are also grown in Japan?
On the island of Shodoshima, in Kagawa prefecture, the olive tree has found a second home, thanks to the mild climate and the position in the middle of the Seto Inland Sea, protected all around by the main islands of Japan.
In 1908, olive trees were brought to Japan and planted in three different prefectures, but the only place where they took root perfectly was this island.

Nowadays 99% of Japanese oil comes from Kagawa Prefecture and the tree has become the symbol of the prefecture.

TENOHA Milan thanks Kostplant , an Italian family company which, thanks to the experience and competence that distinguishes them, guarantees a service for the sale of green and flowering plants, specializing above all in Japanese macrobonsai, maintaining contacts with national and foreign producers, including the Japan.
