WITH JNTO AND JAPAN NIKKI DISCOVERING JAPAN
JNTO is the acronym for Japan National Tourism Organization (国際観光振興機構) and indicates the important independent administrative institution appointed by the government of Japan to promote travel and tourism to and in the country .
Thanks to its publications and a constantly updated website, it offers excellent ideas and always useful advice regarding itineraries and destinations, providing a vast range of information in numerous languages and introducing the public to many aspects and curiosities peculiar to Japanese culture.
Founded in 1964, the organization currently has more than 20 offices around the world - in addition to the headquarters located in Tokyo - where multiple activities and events take place with the aim of promoting the territory, the prefectures and Japanese culture , encouraging national and international tourist trips.
The foreign offices also have a historic and consolidated collaboration with media and journalists , actively participating in fairs and giving support to the local tourism industry in the development of tours and on the occasion of international events; their task is also to conduct tourism-related research , publishing statistics and market reports.
The Japanese National Tourism Board also manages tourist information centres, the so-called TICs, through which useful information is disseminated on everything that may be of interest, even in an extremely practical and detailed manner, for the traveller: means of transport, types of accommodation available, dining options, popular places, seasonal celebrations, ongoing exhibitions and events, guided tours and much more - always with the aim of enhancing cultural excellence and heritage of the country of the Land of the Rising Sun.
Given the nature of JNTO dedicated to the dissemination of culture and information , " Japan Nikki" was born on 1 June 2021, the new blog created by the tourist board , which offers travel ideas and advice to discover the prefectures of Japan, and beyond Alone.
Going in order, the word nikki , dating back to the Heian period (794-1185), means "daily story" in Japanese, although not necessarily linked to daily events; “Giappone Nikki” therefore wants to represent a sort of traveling diary dedicated to various themes of Japanese society , such as history, literature, cuisine, curiosities, habits and customs.
Japan is often associated exclusively with large cities such as Tokyo and Osaka, but over 70% of the Japanese territory is actually made up of dense forests and mountainous terrain : "Japan Nikki" therefore aims to showcase the many most sought-after itineraries and destinations that are not yet popular, highlighting their diversity and the many aspects that characterize the very nature of this nation.
For travelers and enthusiasts this bi-weekly column , which has already released dozens of issues in the first few months, has quickly become a point of reference and a source of inspiration for orienting themselves in the Land of the Rising Sun.
