TENOHA TANABATA GARDEN

Celebrate summer with TENOHA TANABATA GARDEN🎋

Flea Market & Street Food
July 6-7

At TENOHA we are preparing to bring you TANABATA again this year, the festival that celebrates the Japanese summer! Two days, 6 and 7 July , in full festival spirit between a flea market, workshops and Japanese street food. All this hosted in our garden between bamboo and colorful tanzaku .

What is Tanabata?
Tanabata, also known as the Star Festival, is one of the most beloved holidays in Japan. This tradition has its roots in a romantic legend that tells of the annual meeting of two star lovers, Orihime and Hikoboshi, separated by the Milky Way. During Tanabata, it is customary to write wishes on colored strips of paper, called tanzaku, and hang them on bamboo branches in the hope that they will come true. Also in the TENOHA garden you will find colorful tanzaku on which to write your wish and hang it among the bamboo.

TWO DAYS OF PURE JAPANESE PARTY

Come and celebrate TENOHA TANABATA GARDEN, a unique and engaging experience. On 6 and 7 July, from 12:00 to 20:00 , the garden will feature a market and a food street area, where you will find the typical festive and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors. In addition, special guests will be the Daruma Lab studio, which will guide visitors in special workshops , combining the art of illustration with Japanese culture. It will also be possible to purchase their exclusive products. Free entry, without reservation.

JAPANESE FLEA MARKET
with special sale of Kimonos

As in a matsuri, a market cannot be missing and in the TENOHA FLEA MARKET you will find bizarre, iconic and artisanal objects and/or inspired by Japanese culture. It will offer a variety of unique products, including kimonos and geta, Japanese tableware, props from previous TENOHA EXHIBITION exhibitions, iconic Daruma, Japanese-language comics and a selection of products from the shop.

WORKSHOP WITH DARUMA LAB

Daruma Lab is a Milanese studio-laboratory that aims to spread the art of illustration inspired by Japanese tradition and aesthetics. The two founders, Anna Spreafico and Lorenzo Duina, are professional illustrators who deal with editorial and commercial illustration at an Italian and international level.
  • Live painting of a Kitsune mask with Lorenzo Duina : in this activity, the public will have the opportunity to see the decoration of a kitsune mask live, starting from the neutral base up to the final result. Lorenzo Duina will decorate the mask with his own style, starting from a pencil drawing on the base and then creating the decorations with acrylic colors and finishing with a coat of matt fixing varnish.
    Approximate duration 1 hour.
  • Animal passport - live drawing with Anna Spreafico : in this activity, the public will have the opportunity to receive a small portrait, similar to a passport photo, of their person in an animal/character version.
    Approximate duration 2 hours.

BETWEEN BEER AND STREET FOOD

During the event, it will be possible to enjoy a selection of freshly prepared Japanese delights ! Let yourself be overwhelmed by the taste of karaage (fried chicken), takoyaki (octopus balls), gyoza (Japanese ravioli), and don't miss a cold Kirin beer or a soft drink. And with every order you get free mochi sweets ( while supplies last)!

To make the experience smoother, there will be a single checkout for all payments:
  • Food & Beverage: visitors will first pay at the checkout and then order at the collection point. All dishes will be freshly prepared.
  • Flea Market: each customer will receive a payment ticket from the staff present at the stand, indicating the object and the price to pay.

We are waiting for you to celebrate Tanabata together with workshops, delicious food and special shopping!
Free entry, without reservation.
