Akimura Taiheido has been making paper lanterns in Osaka for 100 years since 1921. Each paper lantern is handmade by master craftsmen. Originally, paper lanterns were imported from China and it was towards the end of the 16th century that lanterns became foldable and portable, adapting the Japanese style.
