Gatcha Gatcha Capsules by Nendo
Gacha gachas, also known as gashapon or gachapon, are vending machines that dispense large capsules usually containing a treat. They originated from American vending machines imported to Japan in the 1960s. For this Gacha Gacha collection, the historic Japanese design studio Nendo collaborated with Kaiyodo, a leading company in the Japanese subculture scene, creator of miniatures of manga and anime characters, as well as figures related to art, crafts and nature .
Using simple graphic sketches, the figures portray different scenes that describe the creative process of new ideas in the studio. They act as a sort of reminder to keep on your desk, underlining the importance of the creative approach. The collection is made up of 9 elements, each available in different colours. Even the packaging and vending machines are designed by the studio, obtaining the same surprise effect as that of the machines that dispensed sweets and games in our childhood.
