Geishas celebrated by the masters of Japanese printing
This box celebrates women and their beauty, (a very important feature in Japanese art), through a selection of the most famous prints of the bijin-ga genre ("images of beautiful women"). Accompanied by a libretto, the concertina-folded volume opens in front of us a hundred works by the greatest masters, from Utamaro to Eisui and from Eishi to Hokusai, without forgetting Eizan, Kunisada and Yoshitoshi.
These prints sublimate faces, gestures and feminine beauty in all its incarnations: courtesans lounging in their interiors, girls combing their hair, mothers with their children, poetesses contemplating cherry blossom ... Delicate colors, exuberant kimonos, hairstyles and rich ornaments reveal the virtuosity and sophistication of these timeless artists.
