The cherry trees in bloom

It's the beginning of spring. A soft cloud in the softest shades of white and pink spreads as if by magic over the whole of Japan. Every year the cherry blossoms are celebrated with the ancestral rite of hanami: a great celebration to be spent under the blossoming trees in the company of family and friends, to contemplate the awakening of nature and meditate on the impermanence of things along the way leads to wisdom. The fleeting intensity of that moment shines in the plates collected here by Anne Sefrioui: over seventy works by masters of Japanese printing, from Hokusai and Hiroshige, to Keibun, Bairei and Hasui.
