From the first formative years of his long regency to the dramatic events that led Japan to the Second World War, this splendid and well-documented manga lifts the veil on the little-known aspects of the life of Prince Hirohito, future Emperor Shōwa, starting from his childhood, subject of the first volume. The second volume is dedicated to the prince's adolescence and his education in an institute specially created for him. A true publishing phenomenon in Japan, the Shōwa Tennō Monogatari series has established Junichi Nōjō as one of the greatest living manga artists.
